Ariel’s Song

From the “Now, Voyager” album in 2017. It started as a vocal song with lyrics. The idea behind it was Ariel from Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. Ariel sings of death and the sea, and the mysteries within it. I rewrote this as an instrumental piece, and it has a sort of “sea shanty” feel. But when I hear the ending, I can’t help but hear those lyrics “Abandoned sorrows in the reef, talk to me of sweet relief; drownings are their favorite songs, stories where I don’t belong.”
